Mrs. Bassey Arikpo Okon is an indigene of Ugep in Yakurr Local Government Area, of Cross River State. She's a born again child of God, accepted God as her Lord and personal Saviour as an idolescent and she since then remained in the faith worshipping with Assemblies of God, Ijiman Ugep. She holds a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Primary Education Studies and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Elementary Education, graduating with a second class upper division.

She spent seventeen (17) years in the classroom as a teacher in the primary school and a year as an assistant head teacher. Her seventeen (17) years of service were spent as an astute award-winning head teacher. Mrs. Bassey Arikpo Okon meritorious retired from the services of Cross River State in 2013. 

As a devout member of the Church, she has served cumulatively as Secretary and President of the Women's Department for more than twenty-nine (29) years. Mrs. Bassey Arikpo is married to Deacon Arikpo Okon Ebri and they are blessed with three children.
