David Charles Nkanu is a mother tongue Bible translator and works as the Literacy Coordinator of Hohumono Language since 2013 while the project was affiliated to the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust. He has been trained through the Introductory Course on Translation Principles and the Introductory Course on Applied Linguistics (2015) as well as Introduction to New Testament Greek (2019).
He retired from the State Active Civil Service (Cross River State), as Principal Master Special Grade 1 (Director) in 2013 after which he joined Bible translation. He served as Director Biblical Research Institute Yakurr/Abị branch between 2006 to 2012.
Member Board of Trustees Era Care Memorial Schools, Okuku, Ogoja and currently member of Initiative on Mother Tongue and Literacy Development (IMTALD) Board of Trustees. He has produced audio recordings of some of the translated New Testament books using HearThis as well Denominational Sunday School manuals for Churches in the project area.
In the moment, he's authoring a book on Hohumono Grammar and Structure. David holds a Degree in Biblical Studies and B.Sc. Ed (Biology), currently, a minister of a congregation of the Church of Christ. Married and blessed with four sons and daughters and lives in Abi with his family.
